Neutral Hue Trend Continues in Wedding Design

Modern wedding trends in 2024 have maintained a steady neutral focus, especially when it comes to a solid base for vibrant unexpected stems. In what appears to be the latest seasonless staple recipe for impending nuptials, natural botanicals intertwined with a surprising shock of color can be tailored to fit any season and any overall event aesthetic.

In the recent past, Alexandra Farms has launched many varieties of sandy neutral tones due to overwhelming demand to meet the desires of couples seeking a timeless, whimsical floral display with mass appeal. Sprays such as Hana Spr, Princess Midori Spr, and Loli Spr are popular additions to the catalog that can all play supporting or starring roles in bouquets and installations.

Neutral statement

Each of Alexandra Farms’ spray varieties features voluminous overlapping petals that provide texture in any combination, tantalizing colors that bring a touch of a burst of intrigue (try Princess Pinku Spr), and airy elegance.

In the annual report earlier this year, Florists’ Review predicted one of the most prevalent trends would be romantic, open-faced roses in variations of the Pantone Color of the Year: Peach Fuzz (Pantone 13-1023). This color accurately depicts the overall popularity of the neutral trend, primarily focused on peach, sand, and skin tones, such as Alexandra Farms’ Quicksand. The low profile and voluminous heads on these garden roses will evoke elegance through understated hues regardless of venue.

The consideration of light exposure, regardless of the time of day, is only a benefit for the natural charm of neutral shades; the lightness of the morning, the warm afternoon and fiery evening sun, and the contrasting darkness of night can all play pivotal roles in the mood these adaptable varieties glow. Caramel Antike is one such variety that makes a stunning fit for all seasons, at any time of day, with the option of taking center stage or supporting other standouts.

Support as a base

Wedding florists are also seeing a continued trend into what Florists’ Review calls: “Ante Meridian Style,” which defies the traditional styles of wedding whites and creams but allows for the individuality and creativity of designers to shine through as they continue to incite surprise and intrigue with bold statement stems.

Popular variety Sahara Sensation creates an excellent neutral base when approaching Ante Meridian Style, and adding a surprising pop of color with Yves Piaget or other similarly bold-colored stems contributes to the intrigue of the design. Consider alternative unexpected bursts of colorful stems: bright coral Sunset, hot pink Baronesse, or the showstopping David Austin variety Edith (Auspluto).

The versatility of neutral hues, especially beiges, creams, lattes, and peaches, simplifies the addition of grasses and accouterments into designs. The natural tones create a clean palette, allowing the artist to construct imaginative creations with endless textures, shapes, and colors.

This fall, continue to play into the opportunities an elevated neutral hue affords in the design realm. There is freedom in building upon simple bases, whether adding surprises or allowing the natural calm of a soft beige to own the show.
